RIEGL is an international leading provider of cutting-edge technology in airborne, mobile, terrestrial, industrial and UAV-based laser scanning solutions for applications in surveying.

Since 1978 RIEGL has been producing commercial LiDAR systems and focuses on pulsed time-of-flight laser radar technology in multiple wavelengths. RIEGL's core 'smart waveform' technologies provide pure digital LiDAR signal processing, unique methodologies for resolving range ambiguities, multiple targets per laser shots, optimum distribution of measurements, calibrated amplitudes and reflectance estimates, as well as the seamless integration and calibration of systems. RIEGL's various 3D scanners offer a wide array of performance characteristics and serve as a platform for continuing 'Innovation in 3D®' for the laser scanning industry.

RIEGL maintains an outstanding history of reliability and support to their customers. The headquarters are in Horn, Austria, where research & development and production are located. Sales, training, support and service are delivered from Horn, the offices in Vienna, Salzburg, and Styria, main offices in the USA, Japan, China, Australia, Canada, and in UK and by a worldwide network of representatives.

RIEGL offers a broad portfolio of LiDAR engines and systems for airborne laser scanning. Thus, the user can choose the scanner or system exactly right for the application and requirements of their business and fully benefit from RIEGL's proven technology.

RIEGL is known as one of the leading suppliers in the field of airborne surveying. In addition to a broad range of airborne laser scanners and laser scanning systems, the RIEGL VP-1 and VPX-1 Helicopter Pod are offered. They are designed for smooth integration of airborne laser scanning systems into manned helicopters. The small and lightweight pods can be mounted on standard hard points and typical camera mounts. Quick release adapter brackets and a minimum of external cabling allow quick system installation and removal. They are available for integration of the RIEGL VUX-1LR, RIEGL VUX-1UAV, RIEGL VUX-240, and RIEGL VUX-120 Airborne Laser Scanner.

With the VUX-120 LiDAR sensor, RIEGL has developed a lightweight (just 2 kg /4.4 lbs) and versatile airborne laser scanner with a wide field of view of 100 degrees and a data acquisition rate of up to 1.8 MHz. The scanner provides interfaces for an external INS/GNSS system and for controlling up to two external cameras. The sophisticated design allows integration on UAS/UAV/RPAS, small manned aircraft, and helicopters. The innovative scan pattern (NFB Nadir-Forward-Backward Scanning) allows complex structures and even vertical surfaces to be acquired. Therefore, the sensor presents itself as the ultimate solution for low/medium-altitude corridor mapping applications.

Extremely light and compact RIEGL LiDAR sensors, like the miniVUX-Series, and the RiCOPTER, RIEGL's unmanned carrier platform, are available for UAV-based applications.

With the RIEGL VUX-SYS miniaturized airborne laser scanning system fully integrated, the RiCOPTER is a remotely piloted surveying platform for a wide field of applications, including city mapping, avalanche and land slide monitoring, forestry, and archeology. The excellent measurement performance of the VUX-1 Laser Scanner in combination with a precise fiber optic gyroscope and GPS/GLONASS receiver results in survey grade measurement accuracy.

The RIEGL miniVUX-Series with an extremely small and sophisticated design of the stable aluminum housing offers various integration possibilities with platforms that offer restricted space or payload capabilities. The 360 degrees field of view allows complete acquisition of the environment. A special integration kit is available for straight-forward and user-friendly integration into various multi-rotor UAVs like the DJI M600.

For topo-bathymetric applications, the RIEGL VQ-840-G laser scanner offers a water penetration of more than 2 Secchi depths. This lightweight system - optionally equipped with IMU/GNSS System and camera or IR rangefinder - is ready for integration to UAVs and helicopters and especially suited for coastline and shallow water mapping.
